Green is a hard-difficulty level percussion ensemble piece for nine players. This composition is my attempt at creating different sonic representations of green through the lens of a standard percussion ensemble configuration. My goal was to present a wash of musical ideas, all related like different shades of green. While I do not possess color-to-sound synesthesia, I attempted to share my inner feelings about the color as best I could (green happens to be my favorite color). Groovy, quirky, scary, gross, bubbly, and watery are all ways of describing how I hear different sections of this music. What shades of Green will you hear?
