For Percussion Quartet
Difficulty: Very Hard
Length: 5:45
Dance Moves is a percussion quartet that twists and turns through various musical events meant to all sound connected from start to finish. The introduction sets the stage as the marimba and vibraphone triplets weave together. The marimba then drives the ensemble forward through a series of compound meters, giving way to the middle, drum-heavy section. Nothing stays stable for long, however, and eventually, listeners will find themselves right back where they started, hearing the introductory material once again. Dance Moves is challenging to play, but if done so correctly, audience members will hear the ideas string together and experience a dance-like quality to the music (albeit very disjunct and aggressive at times).
