Canned Heat by Eckhard Kopetzki

Scored for tom toms, bongos, tambourine, "resonant metal sound" and "can," Eckhard Kopetzki’s Canned Heat wonfirst place in the 2002 Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Multiple Percussion Solo contest. The piece calls for 3 hard mallets in the opening section, eventually transitioning to sticks as it progresses through various major sections of music. Kopetzki, originally from Hanover, Germany, studied music and physics at the University of Osnabrück.
