Isle of Skye by Michael Iorio

Isle of Skye

Percussionist and composer Michael Iorio wrote Isle of Skye in 2018, near the time he began his musical composition studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The composition for marimba and flute consists of five movements, each representing different characteristics of Scotland’s Isle of Skye, an island known for its breathtaking landscapes and ancient mythology. Soar over Neist Point and Choral Beach like a white-tailed eagle. Be swayed by the romance of the Fairy Pools and be deceived by the Fay. Visit the thumb of a giant at Old Man of Storr before meeting with the fairies in the hidden meadows of the Quiraing.
